PROJECT OUTLINE
Following is the semester outline discussed in class, which is still open for discussion and will be subject to change as we continue on with the semester. We are currently in Week 5.
Week Five - IDEATION
Continue on with ideation drawings, this time, focussing only on rescue. Any documentation found, or anything of interest should be posted up on this blog or brought into class for discussion.
Deliverables: Ideation sketches - Interior and exterior conceptualization drawings from everyone. Think about possible situations the TICOs will encounter that are dangerous. Controls and Navigation, Seating, Storage of equipment and Patient transport could be areas of interest. Also think about what type of platform the vehicle will be.
Week Six & Seven - DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Discussion of the ideation drawings will give us all insight into what kind of things this vehicle will need, and what strong design ideas we can incorporate to it. Using this discussion as a fuel, we can begin design development - which will happen over weeks six and seven. From week six onward we should meet at least twice a week to discuss progress and post on this blog ideas for discussion.
Initial Areas of Interest:
INTERIOR; Seating (Comfort, Removability, Ergonomics) Controls and Navigation, Modular sections of the space, Storage & Compartments, Accessability, Patient Transport and Care, On-board equipment.
EXTERIOR; ATV Necessities, Identifiability, Modular panelling, Docking stations for equipment, Rigs & Lifesaving Equipment.
ENGINEERING; Engine dynamics, Equipment add-ons, platform drawings, seating configurations and suspension.
Week Eight - CONCEPTS
Presentation of two to three concepts from each group member to the other group members. Discussions about certain ideas that can be integrated with others will happen. By the end of this week we will need to have a chosen concept that will be ready for short refinement, CAiD & Modelling.
Deliverables: At least two concept presentation boards, showing the basic platform, form and function of exterior and interior and justification for this design.
Week Nine - DETAILING
All group members discuss concept refinement and select areas discussed and applied for detail design. Group members will work closely together during this process to ensure consistency in detailing. Engineering will need to be considered, and we will need to begind taking into account how this will be built in 3D and by CAiD.
Semester Break - CATCH UP PERIOD
Perhaps CAiD and Modelmaking can commence this week. Any unfinished detail design will be completed here.
Week Ten, Eleven & Twelve - MODELS
Group splits into CAiD Development and 3D Modelmaking Team, and provide perhaps photos and screen dumps of progress to be posted on the blog.
Week Thirteen (Final Class) - COMMUNICATION
Begin taking necessary sketches / documents / renderings / photos for documentation purposes. Template for posters will be made up. FLASH pres if possible. Discussion of how we will present will be done at a later date. This week could be used to catch up on CAiD / 3D model work needed to complete that phase.
Week Fourteen - FINAL REPAIRS & DOCUMENTATION
Completing all documentation required, finishing off communication, binding folios, printing posters, rehearsing presentation and drinking lots and lots of beer.
Week Fifteen - FINAL PRESENTATION
Receive our much deserved High-Distinction.
